Over decades of living I have found great satisfaction in turning Mountains into Molehills. The Mountains are things I've never done before but have a desire to. A Molehill is hopefully what remains of the Mountain as I take each one on.

Camper update.

  • UPS dropped off queen and king memory foam mattress pads today.  That should make the existing 3" foam pads a lot more comfortable.
  • Ordered a spare tire cover today and I should have received the Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller today via USPS ( haven't checked mailbox yet).  I'll need this since the trailer axle has brakes.  Pretty important when you're traveling in the mountains.
  • The replacement power converter should show up tomorrow.  After this is installed the trailer will almost be mechanically and electrically ready except for a small water leak from the kitchen faucet hose.
  • I have found that the old battery is actually holding a higher charge than the new battery I bought.  So, I'll be installing that one on the trailer and taking the new one as a spare/backup battery.

Getting the Starcraft 14RT Checked Out and Ready.

On June 23, 2011 I purchased a used Starcraft 14RT popup camper from a gentleman in Von Ormy, Texas.  After quite a search and questioning if I should purchase more of a typical popup camper; I convinced myself to acquire this high clearance model.  Here's one of pics from the original Craigslist add.

14RT

The weekend of June 25th and 26th, Keith and I went over the camper with a fine toothed comb.  We found several things that didn't work but after a little bit of head scratching and creative troubleshooting, we managed to address most of the problems.

Most of our time was spent troubleshooting the 3-way refrigerator and the water heater, polishing all of the diamond plate, and repainting the roof.  Overall it was a good time working in the summer heat and making fun of the stupid songs on the radio.

Currently, the AC-DC converter continously alarms when the 15A circuit is turned on.  After some more troubleshooting today, I determined the converter had to be faulty and placed an order for a Parallax 6730 which should be a drop in replacement.

Picked up a 12 gallon holding tank off of Craigslist today.  Some campgrounds don't let you run grey water on the ground.
